UZPM Signs a Contract With German Company Glatt Ingenieurtechnik To Produce a Range of Special Deicing Materials

Chloride-free agents for deicing treatment of airports, roads, bridges, along with anti-frost additives for construction industry are included in the next years’ production plan of the Ural Plant of Deicing Materials (UZPM). The company has signed a contract with Glatt Ingenieurtechnik (Weimar, Germany) for manufacturing of a versatile production unit to launch a new series of deicing materials.

The unit’s commissioning is planned for 2019. In the course of several years, UZPM has been conducting laboratory tests examining various recipes in the Glatt engineering and technology center (Weimar, Germany). The tests resulted in identifying the most efficient technology and composition of agents for special purpose facilities.

Rustam Gilfanov, UZPM’s founder, and Chief of R&D commented:

“Development of this new area is in line with the logical growth of the Russian winter management industry. Glatt Ingenieurtechnik is a leading equipment manufacturer in the European market. Due to our cooperation, we will be able to create the necessary conditions to produce a new generation of special purpose agents which will meet the most stringent requirements to safety, performance and environmental impact. The new equipment will enable production cost optimization, control of all process parameters and release of unique high quality product”.

The total sum of investment exceeds RUB 300 million. The project has been approved at the meeting of the Regional Industry Development Fund’s Supervisory Council.

As per Rustam Gilfanov, the new product range’s potential consumers are major national airports, road services in charge of treatment of bridges, as well as construction industry players who need anti-frost additives for concrete in order to be able to operate at below zero temperatures.

The demand forecast is based on the needs of the Russian market: presently the country has no choice but to annually purchase materials from abroad to satisfy the existing demand.

“Another important consequence for us is the increase of tax allocations to budget and an increment in workplaces at Krasnokamsk where our production sites are located,” - adds the company owner.
