On May 25, the open family festival “Veloprityazheniye” took place in the Yug village of Perm Municipal District. This event included 15, 30 and 60 km cross-country races. Those who love cycling, but are not ready to compete yet, could take part in a 5 km fancy dress race. For the third consecutive year, since the foundation of the cycling marathon, it has the support of Ural Plant of Deicing Materials (UZPM), the largest producer of advanced deicing materials in the Russian Federation with the operations based in Krasnokamsk, Perm Krai.
UZPM employees took part in the festival as BIONORD ENERGY team again and joined the 15 km race in bright and comfortable branded uniform. The plant’s mascot – the furry white little yeti called Iceman – came to cheer for the team and caused a major uproar among the children, as always. UZPM also set up a mobile field kitchen and offered delicious and healthy cereal to all the active sports enthusiasts, who gained appetite by spinning the pedals.
“I cycle on a regular basis, because it is the best city transport that is almost as fast as a motorcycle,” Ruslan Levchenko, the Senior Specialist of UZPM Auctions Support Department, explains. “But it is for the first time that I will compete against someone. I am excited to see what comes out of it!”
“Veloprityazheniye” is a grand event with varied entertainment program for both children and adults. The guests of the family festival of all ages are provided the opportunity not to just try their strength and stamina in team cycling races, but also to take part in a variety of contests, lotteries and masterclasses, and to enjoy the concert of the region’s best performers held on the main stage throughout the entire day.
“This is definitely something new to me! I understand that it is not an easy distance, but I feel the support and belief of my colleagues. Besides, our staff is well-trained,” Olga Kacheva, UZPM senior lawyer of Corporate and Property Relations Department, says.
The festival brought together over 3,000 people of all ages and professions. This year, the youngest participant of the cycling marathon was as young as 2 years old. UZPM presented the young cyclist with a plush Icemen toy. Now, the mascot of Ural Plant of Deicing Materials will inspire little Taisia to do sport.
