Specialists of Ural Plant of Deicing Materials took part in Housing and Utility Sector of Russia, the XIX International Exhibition, held on April 18-20 at Expoforum convention-and-exhibition centre in Saint Petersburg.

Every year, at one of the largest convention-and-exhibition events in the housing and communal sector, leading industry experts discuss prospects and new areas of development, evaluate the achievements in utilities system, and share new ideas and modern technologies.

Representatives of UZPM demonstrated new products manufactured by the Plant and talked about the situation in the field of the use of modern technologies in winter road maintenance in public space, routes, and cultural heritage sites in Saint Petersburg.

Rudolf Ponomarev, Deputy Commercial Director of Ural Plant of Deicing Materials Trading House:

“In Saint Petersburg deicing is of particular importance due to narrow pavements freezing in winter, strong winds and a humid climate. Today deicing materials are used locally in limited spaces, mainly by private specialized customers. Unfortunately, at the municipal level, the use of conventional salt-and-sand mixtures continues which can hardly solve problems of icing of pedestrian zones and highways; moreover, it causes the pollution of the urban environment. We believe that wider use of advanced multi-component deicing materials would be good for Saint Petersburg. The use of materials in the maintenance of outdoor space of the central part of the city and gradual expansion to other areas is already being considered”

Separately, the importance of preserving priceless cultural heritage sites in severe winter conditions of Saint Petersburg was noted.

“We are proud of the fact that environmentally safe and fully soluble deicing materials of UZPM manufacture are already used in the maintenance of Palace Square, the Mariinsky Theatre, the Catherine Palace, and the State Hermitage Museum,” Rudolf Ponomarev commented.
