In Nakhabino, an urban locality of Moscow Oblast, winners of the 7th annual Eco Best Award were announced. Eco Best Award is an independent public award given for the best products and practices in the field of ecology, energy and resource saving, as well as in the field of manufacture of environment-friendly products.
Ural Plant of Deicing Materials, one of the biggest manufacturers of modern innovative deicing materials in the territory of Russia, became the winner in the “Environment-Friendly Process of the Year” category.
According to Evgeniy Nemirovsky, Adviser to the General Director for Development of UZPM, the “Integrated Granule” process is used in the manufacture of Bionord efficient environment-friendly deicing material. The deicing material is manufactured based on a combination of natural salts and corrosion-preventive bio-friendly components protecting from adverse effect of salt. The application of this technology ensures the efficient melting of ice and, at the same time, helps to mitigate the impact on clothes, metal, and footwear, reduces carbon footprint of winter road maintenance, cuts direct greenhouse gas emissions through 6 times smaller consumption of fuel by road maintenance machinery.
At the official ceremony at Moscow Country Club, the best products and projects in the field of environment and resource conservation were assessed and awarded; the winners of Eco Best Award in other categories included SBER, Gazprombank Leasing, Pervaya Management Company, Russian Media Group, World Class, SIBUR (Affect agency), Mosgortrans State-Owned Company, Rosvodokanal GC, JSC Nefis Cosmetics, Alfa-Bank, GRASS, etc.
The goals and objectives of the award are to draw attention to the problem of environmental safety and preservation of the ecosystem integrity, inform people about existing environmental standards and achievements and to promote the environmental awareness building in the society.
