Mosvodokanal Joint Stock Company is the largest water company in Russia and a provider of water supply and sewage services to residents of Moscow and the Moscow region; it purchased approximately 500 tonnes of advanced Bionord deicing agent for the winter of 2023/2024. Eco-friendly products manufactured by Ural Plant of Deicing Materials (UZPM), the production site of which is located in Krasnokamsk, have been used in the territories of pumping stations, treatment facilities, and engineering systems for the supply and distribution of water by Mosvodokanal JSC for some years now.

Mosvodokanal is not just a natural resource user of the Moscow region and Russia; it is also the largest environmental facility that protects the environment from more than 1 million tonnes of pollution produced by the metropolis. About 15 million residents of the capital and Moscow Region serviced by Mosvodokanal represent almost 10% of the total population in the country. The company bears high responsibility for the well-being and health of the capital city residents, ensures the sanitary and ecological cleanliness of the capital city, and protects the surrounding aquatic environment.

“Bionord is the only agent in Russia that has received certificates of compliance with GOST R 58427-2020 “Deicing materials for use in the territory of settlements. General specifications”. In addition to this, deicing materials manufactured by UZPM have passed the environmental impact assessment made by Rosprirodnadzor (Federal Service for Supervision of Natural Resources). There is also an expert report about the compliance of UZPM products with the unified sanitary, epidemiological, and hygienic requirements, and a Material Safety Data Sheet,” Evgeniy Nemirovsky, Adviser to the General Director of UZPM, explained. “Bionord is absolutely safe for water bodies, since the sodium chloride content in the material is too low to salinize water bodies. As for other salts, they are not harmful to aquatic flora and fauna, at least in the amounts in which such substances can penetrate a water body.”
