Due to external circumstances the labour market has changed significantly. Today employers develop new incentive programmes and strengthen corporate culture to recruit young professionals for industrial jobs. Ural Plant of Deicing Materials, being a modern company celebrating its 15th anniversary this year, has something to offer to graduates and students of higher educational institutions and specialized secondary schools. Prospects of collaboration and specialist training for UZPM manufacturing site were discussed at a meeting of UZPM’s management team with the management of the Krasnokamsk Polytechnic Vocational School.

Today the vocational school prepares over a thousand professionals in six fields and six jobs. Last year, the educational institution received a grant of the Young Professionals Federal Programme and managed to renovate two workshops. Certainly, this will help to better develop practical skills and improve learning; however, according to the vocational school management, it will just partly solve the issue of training specialists for production sites. Maximum immersion in the profession is needed, and here the vocational school expects some assistance to be provided by would-be employers, i.e. industrial companies.

“The vocational school has successfully overcome the adaptation period amid new realities and is trying to build partnerships with would-be employers of its graduates,” — notes Vladimir Dranitsin, Director of the vocational school. “We are interested in guaranteed employment of our graduates and ready to build our training process, bringing it closer to manufacturing as much as possible. Already today we can see the result of our collaboration with UZPM: three our students are currently interning at the Plant; mentors are assigned to them; the students are involved in the production process and, which is more important, they are motivated. Four more students are already employed at the Company and combine work and study.

Discussing possible options for closer cooperation, Vladimir Aleksandrovich suggested the participation of UZPM experts in organizing lectures in particular areas of expertise, arranging practical training, participating in the examination committee during the defense of students’ final research papers, as well as inclusion of Dmitriy Pylev, CEO of UZPM, in the Management Council of Krasnokamsk Polytechnic Vocational School.

In his turn, Dmitriy Pavlovich spoke about prospects for the vocational school students which they will have thanks to opening a new production facility at UZPM. The Plant is going to launch two high-tech production facilities in Krasnokamsk and significantly extend its product line. For this reason, more jobs will be created, and the Company has already started staff recruitment to invite equipment operators, slingers, process control engineers, electronic engineers, and forklift operators.

They will be offered ample opportunities to build a career at the manufacturing site and join exciting life in the corporate environment of UZPM. Today, the Company employs almost 500 people, and the average age of specialists is 30-35 years. The Plant actively supports Perm Krai sports initiatives and promotes employee involvement in sports events of the region by arranging the annual corporate soccer cup, acts as a partner in the Olympic Ski Track charity event, a partner of Bionord basketball team and Progress Bionord soccer team. The Plant employees also participate in charity projects, environmental campaigns of the district and the region.

“At our Company we appreciate and support initiatives of young professionals regardless of whether it concerns sports, important social projects, technical improvement proposals, or even participation in the political life of the region,” Dmitriy Pylev, CEO of Ural Plant of Deicing Materials, said. “The Plant offers opportunities for career and personal development, helps specialists to combine work and study. For instance, six our specialists raise their competencies through receiving degrees at the Polytechnic University and Agrarian and Technological University. Today we are ready to take into consideration promising students of the vocational school and cultivate them as future professionals at our manufacturing site.”

In the nearest future, CEO of UZPM is going to visit the vocational school and familiarize himself with the educational base of the institution. Probably students will join the Company volunteering activities and participate in the City of Kind Hearts, a New Year charity event.
