As part of production upgrade, Ural Plant of Deicing Materials (UZPM LLC) is heading towards completion of the construction of its brine preparation shop (BPS). The production shop is an integral part of the process chain of the new high-performing plant. The total investment amounted to about RUB 400 million. BPS is essential to the plant's manufacturing technology: it supplies high quality raw materials for the key product range of the enterprise.
The shop is designed for filtering salt brine, which is the basis for the liquid reagent, and further processing of materials into a solid reagent. Pumping units extract brine from 1,500 m deep well. Sodium chloride and suspended magnesium hydroxide obtained through filtration become components of deicing reagents.
The company's experts cooperated with leading research institutes to develop a technology for producing magnesium hydroxide, a product that is in great demand in the industry market in Russia and abroad. UZPM LLC expects that its export product range of magnesium hydroxide will account for more than 6.5 ktons of annual sales volume.
In the 300 sq.m. shop, work is underway for installation of basic and auxiliary filtration equipment, electrical systems, and two dozen containers for brine preparation and storage of liquid reagent. The process will be automated and monitored by the plant operator. Modern hi-tech equipment will ensure comprehensive production control with minimum participation of the staff. The commissioning should begin in Q1 2022.
Dmitry Pylev, UZPM LLC Director General:
"The current capacity of our company is up to 1 million tons deicing materials per year. Opening the brine preparation shop will ultimately help increase DM output by at least 30% and supplement our product range with more deicing solutions. The company is planning to increase brine consumption to 780 thousand cubic meters per year and continue its research for development of new products and ingredients for the domestic and external markets."
